About Me

I am a 23 year old InterVarsity campus missionary, a current worship leader, and former college football player who is passionately in love with Jesus.  I graduated from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa this past December and will be going on staff in the fall at Central College and William Penn University.

Thats me.

After calling Jesus my Savior at a young age, I drifted away for many years during middle school and high school.  It was only after drifting into depression and partying my senior year of high school, and seeing my dream of playing college football slip away, that I went all in with Jesus and called on him as my Lord.  Since then, I have been relentlessly pursuing him and am constantly blessed by how he continues to reveal himself to me and bring me closer to himself.

As I take the next step of my life, from graduating college into becoming a campus missionary for InterVarsity, I am looking forward to seeing how God will show up in this next season and adventure.

I will use this site as an outlet to share my many thoughts and musings about God, life, and culture.  I will also use it as a home base for updating family, friends, and my support team about my life and ministry.

My Mission Statement:

To love God and others with everything I have and in everything I do.

This is what my life is all about.  Jesus said that loving God and loving others are the first two and greatest commandments. Not only that, but we are to do so with all our heart, mind, and strength.  I do not want to be an apathetic, ritualistic, or cultural Christian. Instead, I am sold out and all in with loving Jesus and I want to bring that love for God and will all of myself and into whatever area God has brought me.  Whether that is playing football, in the classroom, writing this blog, as a missionary, or standing in line at the bank.  Following Jesus is not a Sunday morning thing that only applies to my religious side, but all the time in all places.

My Vision:

To see my gifts and talents fully brought to fruition for the Glory of God and advancement

This is my goal and vision for the future. All of us, without exception, are created in the image of God with certain God give talents and passions.  These talents may be hidden, unknown, or undeveloped.  When we start to follow God and pursue Him, he will bring those talents to fruition.  I was born with the capacity to play college football but it took following him and putting in a lot of hard work to bring that to fruition.  I believe in applying that to all of my gifts and passions, including music, leadership, public speaking, working with kids, coaching, working across cultures, and more.  Of course, these were not given to me for myself, nor will I use them for myself, but will use them to help others and advance God's work and mission in the world.

My Core Values:

God, Love, Service, Passion, and Integrity.

These are the five words which sum up best what I hold to be important and who I seek to be.  Whenever I make decisions or get distracted, it is these values which bring me back to my foundation.  They are in a particular order.  In a sentence, these words mean I want to love God and love others, showing that love through my actions with passion and integrity.

God - God is my creator and my savior.  He comes first no matter what.

Love - Love for God is the highest pursuit of life and love of others is how we show God's love to the world.
Service - I do not want to love in word or speech but in action and in truth, to walk the walk.
Passion - If something is worth doing, its worth doing with your whole self and being excited about it. This passion is contagious.
Integrity - I want to be a consistent, whole person.  I want to be the same Saturday night as I am Sunday morning.

I hope that you will enjoy reading this blog and will check back often, as I will be updating it around once a week.
